'jeannette glass co' sugar & creamer set
When pink Depression glass hit the market in the early 1930s, a bevy of names described the colour: Cheri-Glo, flamingo, rose glow, rose tint, and wild rose. Obtained via premiums in cereal boxes, purchased in dime stores, and given away as prizes in movie theaters, the colourful glass brightened the lives of homemakers facing harsh economic times.
Jeannette Bottle Works began operation in the late 1880s in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. In 1898 the company became Jeannette Glass Company. JGC, one of the seven major companies producing Depression glass, introduced 14 collectible patterns during the period from 1928 through 1938.
Many pieces of Jeannette glass were not marked but can be easily identified by their distinctive patterns and colours.
